Rodan & Fields Self Tanner Review

Spring is in full swing in Alabama and I'm officially ready to break out all of my cute dresses. However, my tan (or lack thereof) makes me want to hide in jeans and sweaters all day every day. For some reason I always just feel so much cuter with a tan. I feel slimmer and I feel like pastel colors look better on me when my skin tone is darker. Sad right? But it is what it is. Unfortunately for me, my natural skin tone is about as white as milk. My lack of a tan got real serious when I was trying to take Stitch Fix photos and saw my white legs here.  Yikes!

Despite really wanting to keep a tan, I am passionate about the health of my skin and refuse to go to the tanning bed. I've been on the hunt for the best self tanner on the market, and I finally found it.  My friend Megan told me she had a friend who uses Rodan & Fields self tanner and loves it. This recommendation couldn't have come at a better time as I had just noticed on social media that one of my former brides is a Rodan & Field rep. I sent her a message and a couple of days later a bottle of Rodan & Field self tanner appeared in my mailbox.

I'm always skeptical about trying self tanners. The self tanners I've tried in the past have a terrible smell or leave me looking orange. Surprisingly this one was completely different. No terrible smells and I loved the foam texture of the tanner. I quickly gave it a try on my arms and legs, and woke up the next morning with a perfect warm glow.  No streaks and I certainly didn't look orange. It was just enough of a tan to make me want to break out my Spring dresses for the week!

If you're looking for a fabulous self tanner, I would highly recommend that you try Rodan & Fields. My sweet former bride Kara is a rep, and you can easily order it online via her website here

Happy tanning!

Our Weekend: Trip to the Birmingham Zoo

After braving the yucky weather last week and hiding out in our tornado shelter on Thursday night, we wanted to get out and enjoy the pretty weekend.  My mom was off on Spring break so we decided to have a fun trip with her and the zoo seemed like the perfect outing.  Arden is starting to get to the age where she could actually enjoy the animals and scenery.  We live almost exactly the same distance between the Nashville Zoo and Birmingham Zoo so we like to go to both but this weekend we went to the Birmingham Zoo since my parents live there.

There are so many things we love about the Birmingham Zoo.  Not only do they have a good variety of animals and exhibits, but I love all the great little extras they have as well.  There is the splash pad with the pop fountains, a really neat soft playground, sea lion shows, petting zoo, camel rides, train rides, and a really cool bird exhibit where you can feed the birds while they actually nest on you.  They also have a Dinosaur exhibit going on until July.  We didn't participate in that this time but it looked really neat.

Arden's favorite animals were the monkeys and giraffes.  One of the monkeys came right up to her in the enclosure and she loved that!  I think that was the highlight of her trip.

She also loved winding down on the train ride.  She had a nice long and much needed nap.

We finished the day with a delicious Mexican meal.  Cheese dip for the win!

We had such a great time this weekend and the weather was just perfect.  I am looking forward to going back in the Summer and taking advantage of the splash pad.  I think she will love that.  I see this being a regular trip for us when the weather warms up.  They have a great membership option we are looking into.  What fun things did everyone do this weekend?  Hope you are having a great week!

Spring Fashion: White Jeans

Spring is here, the weather in Alabama is perfect, and I'm excited about breaking out some fun Spring clothes!  My most coveted clothing item for Spring has been white jeans.  I searched high and low for some last year, but found one major problem with every single pair I tried on: the pockets.  I couldn't stand how you could see the pockets through the jeans!  So sadly, last year I never got a pair.  I decided to start the search for white jeans again this year and was THRILLED to find the best pair of white jeans ever at Gap.

So what makes these jeans so special?  Ironically it's the pockets.  Apparently Gap had this brilliant idea to make the pockets in their white jeans nude so they wouldn't show.  It's pretty much the most brilliant thing ever if you ask me.  I am completely obsessed with these jeans and you just might see me in these every single day for the next couple of months. You can grab these jeans for $69.95 at Gap.  A pretty good deal for a Spring wardrobe staple if you ask me.
